Bionote:
Dr. Haris Ahmed Khan is a molecular virologist specializing in plant and fungal virology. He completed his Ph.D. at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2022. His doctoral research focused on the identification of mycoviruses with biocontrol potential that infect Pakistani filamentous fungi. During his Ph.D., he also worked as a visiting scientist at the Institute of Plant Science and Resources (IPSR), Okayama University, Japan. Dr. Khan utilized high-throughput sequencing and RLM-RACE for the molecular and biological characterization of mycoviruses. He also studied the expression of Dicer genes in virus-free and virus-infected fungal strains through GFP assays and collaborated with Chinese scientists to explore cross-kingdom viral spread from plants to fungi. His second line of research investigates the development of drugs for human viruses, including Dengue virus, Coronavirus, and Influenza virus, using therapeutic and bioinformatics approaches.
Research Interests:
Virology, Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology
