Dr. Imrana Amir
Assistant Professor, University of Mianwali (UMW Zoology)
Dr. Imrana Amir completed her PhD in Zoology with a specialization in Fisheries and Aquaculture from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, in 2019. She is an HEC-approved PhD supervisor. Dr. Amir had the opportunity to work in the Fish Nutrition Lab at the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences, Ohio State University, USA, for six months under the HEC Research Support Initiative Program (IRSIP) for PhDs in Pakistan.
After completing her PhD, she underwent a one-month professional training under the National Faculty Development Program (NFDP-2021) by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE). Dr. Amir also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow (IPFP) from November 21, 2021, to November 22, 2022, at the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Institute of Pure and Applied Zoology, University of Okara. During her IPFP tenure, she co-supervised six M. Phil research students and taught four postgraduate and two undergraduate Zoology courses.
Dr. Amir has also taught Zoology courses for three years at the University of Education, Attock Campus. She worked with the British Council Pakistan at the Islamabad center for one year and was awarded the prestigious Charles Wallace Visiting Fellowships (2022-2023) for University of Glasgow, under the British Deputy High Commission. Additionally, she is associated as a reviewer with the Journal of Applied Aquaculture, published by Taylor & Francis Group. Dr. Amir has published ten research papers in HEC-recognized international scientific journals and has presented her research work in 18 international and national conferences.
