Dr. Islam Ullah Khan Lodhi holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan, and an M.Phil. in Chemistry from the University of Agriculture. He started his academic career as a Lecturer in 1982 with the Higher Education Department (Govt. of Punjab) and has since served in various capacities at multiple universities. Dr. Khan worked as Assistant Professor and later as a Professor (TTS/Tenured) at Government College, Lahore, for over 24 years. He has also served as a Professor at the University of Sialkot for over a year. Currently, he serves as the First Regular Vice Chancellor of the University of Mianwali since February 12, 2021. Dr. Khan has extensive administrative experience, having held several important positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Chairman of the Department of Chemistry, and Secretary of the National Curriculum Revision Committee for Chemistry.
Dr. Khan has received multiple prestigious awards, including the Research Productivity Award (2010, 2011, and 2012), the HEC’s Best University Teacher Award (2007), and several research awards from Japan. He has published over 300 research articles in ISI-approved journals with a total impact factor of 225, accumulating 2775 citations. His research areas include the synthesis of new organic molecules, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), X-ray crystallographic studies, supramolecular chemistry, and the development of novel HPLC and spectrometric methods for pharmaceutical and forensic analysis. He has supervised the research work of 15 Ph.D., 95 M.Phil./MS, 33 MSc., and 28 BSc. (Hons.) students, with ongoing research for two Ph.D. scholars.
Dr. Khan has contributed significantly to the academic community by updating and developing the curricula for BS (Hons.), M.Phil./Ph.D. programs, and has also designed syllabi for chemistry papers in competitive exams like CSS and PPSC.
