Under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Livestock Card Scheme has been launched in Mianwali District to support livestock farmers. The distribution ceremony was organized by the Department of Livestock Mianwali at the Agriculture Extension Office.

The ceremony was attended by a distinguished panel of guests, including:

  • Mr. Amanat Ullah Khan Shadi Khel, Convener DCC and former Provincial Minister for Irrigation, as the chief guest.
  • Mr. Malik Muhammad Feroz Joiya, former MPA.
  • Mr. Khalid Javed Goraya, Deputy Commissioner of Mianwali.
  • Dr. Matee-ul-Islam, Additional Director of Livestock.
  • Dr. Irfan Akmal Ghanjera, Deputy Director of Livestock.
  • Mr. Sajid Khan, PML-N Divisional Vice President.

A large number of livestock farmers and general farmers also attended the event.

Distribution of Livestock Cards

Livestock Cards were distributed to farmers by the chief guest and other dignitaries, including Mr. Amanat Ullah Khan Shadi Khel, Mr. Malik Muhammad Feroz Joiya, Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya, and Mr. Sajid Khan.

Overview of the Livestock Card Scheme

Dr. Matee-ul-Islam, Additional Director of Livestock, provided an insightful briefing on the Livestock Card Scheme. Key highlights of the scheme include:

  • The initiative supports livestock farmers by helping them fatten male calves (cows and buffaloes) over a four-month period.
  • Farmers owning 5 to 10 male calves can use the Livestock Card to purchase feed supplements like:
    • Vanda
    • Silage
    • Mineral Mixtures
  • Each animal is allocated PKR 27,000 under the scheme.
  • The government will cover the bank’s interest, and farmers will repay only the principal amount interest-free in the fifth month.
