PUNJAB FOOD AUTHORITY’S EFFORTS TO COMBAT HEALTH-HAZARDOUS ELEMENTS IN MIANWALI
In line with the directives of Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Mianwali team has been actively working to curb health-hazardous elements in the district. Over the past week, various food businesses, including hotels, grocery stores, food points, meat shops, dairy shops, and sweet factories, have been inspected for public health concerns.
The inspection process has been ongoing, with the PFA team conducting checks at key entry and exit points of Mianwali, specifically focusing on vehicles and motorcycles transporting milk. During the inspections, a total of 19,860 liters of milk was checked.
As part of these operations, several health violations were identified, resulting in the disposal of the following items under PFA regulations:
- 13.5 kg of expired food products
- 1.48 kg of various food items
- 33.5 liters of beverages
- 3 kg of spices
- 5 liters of milk
- 2.22 kg of prohibited salt
- 14 kg of stale vegetables
Additionally, fines totaling 206,500 PKR were imposed on the violating businesses.
